World Mental Health Day:
Wellbeing in the Workplace

World Mental Health Day, is a day for everyone to come together to talk about mental health and show that mental health matters. This year’s theme highlights the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. At SCO, wellbeing is high on our agenda – making sure your employees are happier and healthier ensures our people can reach their highest potential.

We don’t just focus on tasks and performance; we focus on our people. Our daily briefings and weekly reviews are designed to give us a deeper understanding of each individual beyond their job description. These interactions help us get to know our team members on a personal level, learning about their aspirations, challenges, and what motivates them.

By regularly checking in with our team, we can identify issues before they become problems, offer tailored support, and celebrate successes, no matter how small. The underlying theme is support; support for every individual who works with us to unlock potential, expand horizons, and to live the best version of their lives.  This people-centric approach allows us to nurture an environment where everyone can flourish both professionally and personally.

To enrich wellbeing in the workplace even further, we have introduced monthly themes that emphasise health and happiness, both inside and outside the office. These themes cover a wide range of topics, such as exercise, mental wellness, money management, and more. By addressing key areas of personal and professional life, we aim to provide our team with practical tools and insights to improve their overall wellbeing.

We recognise the pressures our team come under both in work and at home. We want everyone to feel safe and supported, so we provide our employees with 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Programme, providing them with qualified counsellor support and access to a full range of guidance.
