International Men’s Day 2024: Celebrating Positive Male Role Models and Wellbeing

November 2024

International Men’s Day (IMD) is an annual event celebrated internationally – to highlight making a positive difference to the wellbeing and lives of men and boys, raise awareness and/or funds for charities supporting men and boys’ wellbeing and to promote a positive conversation about men, manhood and masculinity.

The theme for 2024 is to promote ‘Positive Male Role Models’ – not just movie and sports stars but everyday men who are living decent, honest lives. The day provides an opportunity for all to appreciate and celebrate the men in their lives and the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities. It reminds us all to focus on men’s health and wellbeing, highlight discrimination against men, improve gender relations and promote gender equality; and to create a safer, better world; where people can be safe and grow to reach their full potential.

At SCO, we celebrate IMD as we do with IWD – however this year wanted to hear how our team would like our organisation to get involved. This year our team have selected to donate to a men’s charity of their choice. We will be sending a donation to ‘Tough Enough to Care’ – who aim their focus toward male dominated spaces, to promote positive conversations around mental health and to remove the toxic stigma surrounding mental health within these spaces. As well as this, we are dedicated to increasing our efforts to focus on men’s health and wellbeing within SCO. We will be organising dedicated events to support this objective further than before.

We are proud to have so many inspiring men working and growing among us – helping build the next generation of positive male role models who set a high standard for teamwork, respect, and personal growth.
