This year we’re celebrating 16 years of Step Change Outsourcing, and it feels like the right moment to look back at where it all began and some of the memories we’ve made along the way.

We started in 2009 in Royston with just 14 employees and plenty of ambition. As we grew, we moved to Hitchin in 2011 and eventually settled in Stevenage in 2021, which is still home today. The team has continued to grow, and in 2025 we’re proud to boast we now have more than 200 people across two floors.

Like every business, we faced challenges when Covid hit – and we had to find new ways to continue supporting services for our clients. With our incredibly talented team, we built a work from home solution and discovered new ways of working together. It wasn’t easy, but it showed us how adaptable we could be. We kept spirits up with Zoom activities, including quizzes and even cooking sessions with our CEO, which gave us some laughs at a time when they were needed most.

There have been plenty of other high points in our journey- we’ve celebrated successes with events, team incentives and trips abroad that we still talk about today!

One of the things we’re especially proud of this year is seeing people grow with us. Career development has always been important here, and already, 2025 has seen 23 members of our team move into new roles or take the next step in their careers. Watching colleagues develop and achieve more is one of the most rewarding parts within SCO.

Now, as we reach 16 years, we’re excited about what’s next. There’s more growth ahead, plenty to look forward to, and of course our Christmas party to celebrate with the people who have made all of this possible. It’s been quite a journey so far, and the best part is knowing there’s still so much to come.
